make up post for 10/20

During class on October twentieth we discussed Hunter S. Thompson and his novel Fear and loathing in Las Vegas a savage journey into the heart of the American dream. A some what eccentric man, Hunter S. Thompson's literary career had several ups and downs, trials and tribulations but he is regarded as one of the most insightful authors and journalists of the twentieth century. Thompson is credited with the creation of "Gonzo journalism" this style of reporting uses fictional creation techniques to convey a non fiction story; by doing this Thompson added a new element of flair and depth to reporting by immersing himself in his stories. Instead of objectively reconstructing events he developed a style that brought the reader closer to the many human elements the various situations created. Many of Thompson's styling were influential of the so called new journalism movement.
